Job description

Yamaha Outboards is looking for a proactive, highly organized Social Media Specialist II to join our Marine Marketing team in Kennesaw, GA. This role will lead the day-to-day execution of organic social media across our priority channels as well as support the growth and quality of Yamaha Outboards' social presence by planning, creating, coordinating, publishing, and optimizing content that connects with boating, fishing, and marine lifestyle audiences.
As the Social Media Specialist II, this will be a hands-on role for someone who understands what strong social media looks like today. The right candidate can write well, think visually, identify content opportunities, adapt messaging by platform, move quickly, and bring fresh ideas forward. They should be familiar with how trends emerge and evolve across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, with the judgment to determine which trends fit the Yamaha Outboards brand, audience, and voice. This person will help improve content quality, increase content throughput, strengthen community engagement, and support a more consistent pipeline of social first content across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook.
This requires strong brand judgement, curiosity, and the ability to learn Yamaha Outboards' products, customers, boating and fishing audiences. The person in this role will be expected to protect Yamaha Outboards' premium brand position, support the brand promise of "Reliability Starts Here." and use sound judgement when engaging with customers, fans, dealers, influencers, ambassadors, internal teams, and external partners.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Own the day-to-day execution of Yamaha Outboards' organic social media presence across priority channels, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook.
  • Build and maintain forward-looking content calendars, ideally planned at least three months ahead, balancing product priorities, campaigns, lifestyle content, engagement posts, traffic driving content, and timely opportunities.
  • Create, source, brief, edit, and coordinate platform native social content, with a strong focus on short-form video for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok.
  • Manage the flow of content from outside content creators, including influencers, ambassadors, pro-staff, event partners, and other external contributors. This includes reviewing incoming content, identifying useable assets, coordinating usage needs, organizing files, requesting additional materials when needed, and helping turn creator supplied content into brand appropriate social posts.
  • Write captions, hooks, post copy, community responses that reflect Yamaha Outboards' brand voice and quality standards.
  • Increase the quality, consistency, and volume of social content while maintaining accuracy, brand alignment, and approval discipline.
  • Monitor collaborations, comments, messages, tags, and engagement opportunities, responding in a brand appropriate voice and escalating sensitive issues when needed.
  • Use analytics and performance results to understand what is working, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend practical monthly adjustments to content, cadence, and channel strategy.
  • Stay current on social platform trends, competitor activity, audience behavior, content formats, and relevant boating, fishing, outdoor, and marine lifestyle.
  • Support Yamaha Outboards marketing initiatives, including product launches, Yamaha Presents films, events, creator partnerships, content capture opportunities, and other brand storytelling efforts as needed.

What You Need To Be Successful:
  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Marketing Communications, related fields or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on social media or digital marketing experience, preferably with responsibility for content calendars, organic social publishing, copywriting, platform management, and content coordination.
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook that includes short-form video, platform native content, and how audiences engage differently across each channel.
  • Ability to understand how trends emerge and evolve across platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook with the judgement to determine which trends are relevant and brand appropriate.
  • Excellent writing, grammar, proofreading, editing, and caption development skills, with the ability to match Yamaha Outboards' brand voice and communicate clearly.
  • Strong creative judgement and the ability to recognize what makes social content engaging, useful, timely, credible, and brand appropriate.
  • Experience creating, editing, briefing, or coordinating social first content, especially short-form video, creator content, event content, product content, and lifestyle.
  • Proven ability to take ownership, bring ideas forward, manage deadlines, and move work ahead with confidence and accountability.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage content calendars, approvals,assets, post copy, publishing schedules, and multiple workstreams at once.
  • Sound judgment in community management, customer engagement, issue escalation, product claims, service questions, and sensitive public facing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, agencies, contractors, influencers, ambassadors, pro staff, and media partners.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn Yamaha Outboards, the marine industry, boating audiences, fishing culture, product priorities, and brand standards.
  • Experience with tools such as Sprout Social, Tableau, Box, Wrike or similar publishing, reporting, project management, and asset management platforms is preferred.
