Job description

Quality Control Technician

Location: Elmsford, NY

About the Role

We import, manufacture, and source a broad portfolio of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and sports medicine products from manufacturers worldwide. We’re looking for a hands-on Quality Control Technician to own the technical quality function—evaluating new and re-sourced products, developing inspection criteria for third-party testing, conducting risk assessments, and managing returns from root cause through vendor resolution. You’ll work directly with suppliers and internal staff to prevent problems and drive corrective action when they occur.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform incoming inspections and quality audits of production samples, finished goods, and supplier shipments; evaluate new and re-sourced products prior to launch and document approval or rejection decisions
  • Create detailed product specifications, acceptance criteria, and quality standards for new and re-sourced products; develop inspection criteria and test protocols for third-party labs
  • Review and interpret third-party test reports to verify products meet applicable requirements and standards
  • Proactively assess product risk—identifying ways a product could fail, evaluating the likelihood and impact, and working with suppliers to address issues before they reach customers
  • Evaluate customer returns, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective action requests and responses with vendors and internal staff
  • Document test results, failure analyses, and quality findings in clear technical reports
  • Use measurement and testing equipment (force gauges, calipers, durability testers, electrical testers) to evaluate product performance
What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in quality control, product testing, or a related technical role
  • Ability to assess product risk proactively and diagnose failures when they occur—identifying root causes, evaluating likelihood and impact, and documenting findings to drive corrective action
  • Proven ability to develop inspection criteria and work with third-party testing labs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable coordinating with vendors and internal teams on quality issues
  • Proficient with standard testing and measurement equipment; basic Excel or data logging skills

Nice to Have:

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma (any discipline)
  • Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, ASTM) or medical device regulations
  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, healthcare products, or similar)
