Job description

Non - exempt position. The histology laboratory contributes a valuable service to help pathologists provide patient diagnoses. The histotechnician-histotechnologist prepares tissues for microscopic diagnosis by a Pathologist utilizing a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated technologies. The histotechnician-histotechnologist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of tissue through the pre-analytic to post-analytic phase in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory. The histotechnician-histotechnologist is responsible for producing slides of good to superior quality and works closely with the Pathologist to provide slides in an efficient and timely manner.

Histotechnician - Diploma/Certificate Histology Technician or Associates Degree in Histology. Completion of a clinical practicum in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
Histotechnologist -Bachelor's degree.
Candidates who have education/work experience and are registry eligible and/or have obtained their HT/HTL certification are considered to have met the education requirement.

Additional Qualifications: 

Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred. Graduates of the Mayo School of Health Sciences Histology Technician Program will receive preference.  Computer skills. Must be highly organized, efficient, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking. Ability to work independently. Must possess good manual dexterity. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written. Must possess problem solving skills

Requires CV/Resume, unofficial transcript(s), and for foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicants expense.

For international/foreign trained applicants, it is the responsibility of the international/foreign to provide to Mayo Clinic the following information.  The applicant is responsible for the cost associated with obtaining the equivalency evaluation.
