Responsibilities

Massage therapists are responsible for the evaluation, plan of care, massage therapeutic intervention, reevaluation, and education of patients who are referred by physicians or allied health practitioners for massage therapy. The massage therapist works closely with the patient, family, and other members of a physician-led team in providing individualized patient care. Massage treatments may be provided in an outpatient clinical setting or in the hospital setting.


Qualifications

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, which includes F1 OPT STEM. Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee.

Certification from a state approved school of therapeutic massage with at least 500 hours of massage therapy related training. Three years' experience as a massage therapist, preferably in a healthcare delivery system. Completion of a hospital-based massage therapy training program preferred. Ability to perform safe and effective massage therapy requiring visual assessment skills, verbal, written, and auditory communication skills, fine motor function and coordination, manual sensitivity, physical strength, and stamina. Ability to assimilate complex objective and subjective data and make clinical judgments based on the information provided by the patient, gathered from medical records, and provided by the health care team. Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills and experience preferred. Complies with any and all city, state, and national requirements to maintain certification. Certification from a state approved school of therapeutic massage. Nationally certified through National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
