Job description

Overview
Snyder & Associates is seeking a Construction Technician to join our Fort Dodge, IA office. We are looking for candidates with the skills and interest in monitoring construction activities at our client sites. This person will play a key role in our project team from pre-construction meetings through the construction phase, observing contractor work to ensure quality of materials, quality of site excavation work and related phases of construction are meeting engineering specifications and compliance with client standards at the site.
Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining strong communications with contractors, project engineers and other project stakeholders during all phases of construction. In support of the client's needs, this position functions as a crucial team member and is seen as the project manager's "eyes on the ground" representative during the construction phase.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in construction oversight preferred.
  • Education in construction and engineering technology or formal construction trades training.
  • General knowledge of construction techniques, materials and processes including but not limited to excavation, concrete, trenching, road construction and structures.
  • Must possess or be able to qualify for DOT materials certifications.
  • Must be able to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Must possess and effectively utilize strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with diverse personalities from the engineering and construction disciplines.
  • Critical thinking/common sense and persuasion skills are essential.
  • Valid Driver's License.
