Job description


The IT PMO Financial Analyst provides financial oversight, analysis, and reporting for IT projects, operations, portfolios and strategic initiatives. This role ensures that IT investments are aligned with business goals and managed within budgetary constraints. The analyst partners with project managers to ensure forecasts reflect reality, variances are understood, and portfolio rollups are accurate. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, capital planning standards, and financial governance frameworks.
Responsibilities
IT Financial Planning & Analysis:
Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts; analyze spend trends; provide insights and recommendations.
Project/Portfolio Financial Support:
Partner with project managers to support financial tracking, allocations, and reporting.
Reporting & Compliance:
Produce financial reports, support audits, and ensure adherence to financial controls and policies.
Vendor & Procurement Financial Review:
Review invoices and contracts for accuracy; support procurement processes and accruals.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or equivalent work experience. (Typically, four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Five years related work experience in financial forecasting, financial modeling, financial analysis and/or accounting with an emphasis in financial analysis.
Advanced accounting and financial skills with the ability to develop and interpret full financial statements, understand financial impacts of changes on cash flows and financial ratios, apply accounting principals to the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to interpret economic, financial and statistical data, enabling effective analysis, sound conclusions and actionable business recommendations.
Advanced software skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
Proficiency/experience with e-mail, mainframe and windows environment and working with accounting systems.
Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to effectively monitor developments in forecasted and actual data, including recognizing patterns and/or outliers in data and events which may influence forecast results or assumptions; the ability to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
