Extended Day Program
Summary
The Extended Day Program Staff is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing after-school environment for Kindergarten through 8th grade students. The Extended Day Program Staff facilitates recreational and educational activities, assists with homework, monitors student behavior, and ensures seamless sign-in and
sign-out procedures, partnering with parents and faculty to support each child's overall well-being.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Student Supervision
• Maintains active, concentrated supervision of students in classrooms, on the playground, or in designated activity areas to ensure their physical safety. Activity Planning
• Plans, prepares, and implements developmentally appropriate, age-appropriate, engaging activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and clubs. Homework Support
• Provides a quiet, structured environment for students to focus and assist with daily homework completion.
Family Communication
• Greets families warmly during pick-up.
Maintains warm, professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student behavior, milestones, and daily activities.
Assures confidentiality of privileged information.
Program Operations
Assists with daily attendance tracking, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and basic food preparation for student snacks.
Safety amp; Health
• Provides a warm, safe, and caring environment that allows the children to grow and explore.
• Administers basic first aid as needed, follows emergency protocols, and maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary environment.
• Keeps extended day areas clean, tidy, and organized; sanitize toys, tables, and equipment daily.
Policy Enforcement
• Enforces school policies and positive behavior intervention in accordance with school guidelines consistently across diverse age groups.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
Strong knowledge of child development principles, learning patterns, and behavioral management.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and faculty.
Ability to multitask and lead diverse groups of students (spanning early childhood to middle school).
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Patient, nurturing, flexible, and energetic demeanor with a strong sense of professionalism.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 1–2 years of verifiable experience working with school-age children in an educational, recreational, or structured child-enrichment setting.
High school diploma, GED, equivalent required.
Experience in curriculum planning, facilitating group activities, and providing homework help.
Certification in First Aid and CPR or the willingness to obtain immediately upon hire.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and crouching to interact with children at their level.
Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, or push up to 30 lbs.
Ability to move quickly and respond to active children or emergencies.
Ability to supervise energetic activities in both indoor and outdoor settings across varying seasonal temperatures.
High capacity for patience, active listening, and problem-solving under pressure.
Ability to maintain concentrated visual and auditory supervision of students at all times to ensure safety.
Work Environment

Operates in a bustling, interactive indoor/outdoor school environment that may include high decibel noise levels.
Works closely with other extended day staff, program directors, and the broader school faculty.
Strict adherence to security, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and health mandates.
10-month school year schedule, typically operating in the afternoons (e.g., 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.).
