Job description

The TMS Solutions Developer – TruckMate is responsible for developing, configuring, integrating, and supporting technology solutions within the TruckMate Transportation Management System supporting the FST Logistics Express division.

This role partners with Operations, Customer Service, Billing, Finance, EDI, Data, and Technology Solutions teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable solutions. Responsibilities include TruckMate configuration, IBM Db2 SQL development, integrations, reporting, workflow automation, troubleshooting, testing, technical documentation, and application support.

The ideal candidate combines transportation or logistics knowledge with strong development, database, integration, and analytical skills to improve operational efficiency, data quality, customer service, and the overall reliability of the TruckMate environment.

Responsibilities:

TruckMate Development & Configuration

  • Develop, configure, test, deploy, and support TruckMate solutions, including workflows, business rules, security, rating structures, reports, and operational settings.
  • Design and develop SQL queries, utilities, scripts, interfaces, and automated processes that improve business operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Evaluate business requirements and recommend the most effective combination of system configuration, process improvement, reporting, integrations, or custom
  • Utilize supported TruckMate APIs, web services, database objects, and development tools while ensuring solutions remain secure, maintainable, and compatible with future
  • Support TruckMate upgrades, patches, deployments, testing, and production

IBM Db2 Development & Data Management

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize IBM Db2 SQL queries for reporting, troubleshooting, reconciliations, integrations, and operational processes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the TruckMate database structure, including tables, relationships, views, indexes, and data dependencies.
  • Troubleshoot database performance, data quality, connectivity, and transaction issues while partnering with infrastructure teams, DBAs, Trimble, and vendors.
  • Ensure database changes follow established testing, documentation, security, and change management standards.

Integrations & Automations

  • Design, develop, support, and monitor integrations between TruckMate and enterprise systems including McLeod, Samsara, NetSuite, ConnectedDock, EDI platforms, customer portals, reporting platforms, and other transportation technologies.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, web services, EDI transactions, flat-file interfaces, middleware integrations, and database extracts.
  • Create interface mappings, reconciliation processes, monitoring, alerts, and error-handling procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve system efficiency through technology.

Business Analysis and Solutions Delivery

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational workflows, gather requirements, and design scalable technology solutions.
  • Support transportation processes including order entry, dispatch, planning, shipment visibility, billing, settlements, customer reporting, and operational execution.
  • Lead solution design discussions, recommend process improvements, facilitate testing, support user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and implementation activities.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop and maintain operational, customer, financial, and management reporting using TruckMate and Db2 data.
  • Support governed data extraction into SQL Server, Power BI, and enterprise reporting
  • Validate report logic, business rules, calculations, and optimize reporting

Application Support and Change Management

  • Provide advanced application support for TruckMate, integrations, reporting, and related
  • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and develop troubleshooting documentation.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, integrations, reports, database objects, and support procedures.
  • Follow established development, testing, source control, release management, and change control processes.
  • Participate in after-hours deployments, upgrades, disaster recovery testing, and production support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years developing, configuring, integrating, or supporting enterprise business
  • Experience with TruckMate, TMW Suite, or a comparable Transportation Management
  • Experience writing SQL using IBM Db2 or another relational
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, APIs, web services, EDI, integrations, and enterprise application architecture.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business users, technical teams, vendors, and

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with TruckMate configuration, dispatch, rating, billing, workflows, reporting, and database structures.
  • Experience integrating TruckMate with McLeod, Samsara, NetSuite, Power BI, ConnectedDock, or other Trimble products.
  • Knowledge of transportation operations including LTL, brokerage, consolidation, linehaul, pickup & delivery, cross-dock, and final-mile logistics.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, Azure, Microsoft Power Platform,
  • .NET, or Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle, testing, source control, and release
