Export Control Managers often navigate complex and evolving international regulations, which require constant monitoring and interpretation to stay compliant. They must coordinate with multiple departments—such as legal, logistics, and sales—to ensure everyone understands and adheres to export laws and company policies. Balancing the need for timely business operations with thorough compliance checks can be challenging, especially when dealing with tight deadlines or high-stakes shipments. Familiarity with export control software, trade management systems, and relevant certifications such as Certified Export Specialist (CES) are commonly required.
