At EWI, the inventory controls specialist will be taking ownership of the shipping/receiving area, as well as the management of the facility's various inventory needs. This will include equipment and materials storage, documentation, and handling, as well as consumables style of inventory. This individual will work with technicians and engineers from all departments to assist with their incoming/outgoing material/equipment and storage needs. This individual will need to have strong documentation and communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of self-motivation. This individual will be required to operate a sit-down forklift as well as a standing reach truck to be able to complete their daily tasks, they will need to be comfortable with power tools, and have basic computer skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Back lot gate and shipping/receiving door access control
  • Responsible for daily forklift and reach truck inspections
  • Loading and unloading of shipments
  • Responsible for packaging all outgoing materials and equipment
  • Responsible for creation of labels and scheduling pickups for all outgoing items
  • Responsible for proper documentation and communication of received items
  • Organization and tracking of all indoor and outdoor material and equipment storage
  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned storage audits
  • Responsible for maintaining ownership of all shipping/receiving areas and equipment
  • Assisting with material and equipment handling on an as needed basis
  • Responsible for taking monthly inventory counts and ordering of required items
  • Responsible for ordering maintenance project/repair needs on an as needed basis
  • Must maintain detailed communication regarding owned areas with Maintenance manager
  • Achieve and strive for highest quality standards in work
  • Achieve established work-area cleanliness standards and maintain a high-degree of organization in work area(s)
  • Perform work in a safe manner and adhere to safety programs, processes, and procedures set forth for the specific process and for company safety programs in general

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency with inventory management software, ERP systems, label printers
  • Prior forklift/reach truck operation a plus
  • Ability to use hand/power tools
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work well with ever-changing priorities and/or situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;
  • Use finger dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, manipulate, and measure;
  • Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stoop, bend, and crouch; and
  • Lift ten to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 to 80 pounds occasionally

EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

EXPERIENCE:
  • One (1) or more years of experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, logistics, and/or warehousing
