Our location in Princeton, NJ, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Customs & Trade Compliance Analyst. You will provide subject matter expertise and project leadership for site import/export matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant customs regulations and trade laws and regulations, including 19CFR,15CFR, FDA, USDA, and other US regulatory agency requirements.

What You'll Work On

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Act as subject matter expert regarding compliant import/export of goods and participate in and/or lead site/division projects related to customs and trade compliance.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of import/export regulations and requirements to support business needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate response to Broker Requests for Information and follow-up to ensure resolution.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to increase efficiency and improve monitoring of compliance issues. Interface with related functional areas (logistics, purchasing, materials management, etc.) on customs matters and ensure that personnel within these areas are trained in import/export compliance.
  • As directed by Supervisor/Manager, implement appropriate corrective actions in response to any findings in the Corporate C&TC compliance assessment.
  • Ensure proper classification, valuation and origin determination for the site's imported goods, including non-commercial goods. Interface with affiliates and third-party suppliers to ensure their understanding of US import documentation requirements.
  • Analyze import/export data to identify risks or opportunities for savings.
  • Make recommendations to management, as appropriate.
  • Provide analytical support related to CBP Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments and Prior Disclosures.
  • Provide analytical support, as needed, for reporting price adjustments, royalties, etc. via the CBP Reconciliation Prototype Program.
  • Perform eligibility analysis for goods that may benefit from Free Trade Agreement preference.
  • Ensure effectively and timely transactional review/audit of all import/export records.
  • Personally educate self on latest Customs, FDA, and other government import regulations.
  • Operates with general direction from the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Incumbent is accountable for compliant importation and exportation of goods and services, including proper classification and valuation.
  • Failure to comply is a violation of law and could result in significant fines or penalties.
  • This employee must have the ability to analyze opportunities and make recommendations on options and/or alternatives to achieve divisional financial objectives.
  • The Sr. Analyst will be privy to highly confidential financial information and must work within the scope of attorney/consultant and client privilege, where deemed appropriate.
  • The proper balance between cost optimization and compliance must be maintained.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Business, logistics/transportation, or another related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of customs compliance experience and or international trade.
  • Sound analytical abilities and attention to detail required.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are critical for this position.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist preferred.
