Job description

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
SUMMARY:
The Export Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision and support of the Ocean and Air Export department to ensure the efficient movement of ocean and air freight out of the country in accordance with company policies, established procedures, and all applicable local, national, and international regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily workflow of the Ocean and Air Export teams to maintain efficient and productive operations.
  • Identify operational issues and support effective, timely solutions.
  • Utilize reporting methods to quantify and prioritize workload
  • Work closely with the Export Manager and internal stakeholders on KPIs, performance metrics, and process improvements.
  • Support communication with export-related authorities, customers, and suppliers as necessary to maintain efficient, positive, and compliant operations.
  • Audit department files regularly to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain effective export activities and operational support across the organization.
  • Support and help implement changes that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training, tools, and resources to perform their roles successfully.
  • Ensure costs accuracy from ocean carriers against our contract rates, submit/track disputes and maintain communication with Ocean Product Team as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining branch TSA compliance requirements for air shipments.
  • Perform other duties or assigned projects as needed.
  • Handle and coordinate export shipments (A - Z process) as assigned and/or needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The incumbent will directly supervise one or more employees and oversee work assignments
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and provide guidance on day-to-day support to team members.
  • Monitor attendance and productivity, escalating issues as needed.
  • Support the Import Manager in maintaining team performance standards and morale
  • Conduct performance evaluations for export department staff.
  • Ensure the business processes are implemented according to Company guidelines.
  • Oversee and provide support on key account shipments to meet customer needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years relevant Ocean and Air Export in the freight forwarding space.
  • Minimum 1-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with a team and also independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or GED required; experience in freight forwarding business a plus.
  • Must have strong understanding of US Export Compliance.
  • Cargowise (C1) experience is a preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services.

ENVIRONMENT:
100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
