Position Summary:
The MRI Supervisor / Cardiac MRI Specialist is a highly specialized imaging leader responsible for overseeing MRI operations while serving as the subject matter expert in advanced cardiac MRI imaging. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and advanced clinical expertise, supporting both departmental performance and the growth of complex cardiac imaging services. The position requires direct collaboration with radiologists, cardiologists, and leadership to ensure high-quality imaging, efficient workflows, and continued program development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of MRI services, including staffing, scheduling, workflow optimization, and quality assurance.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for cardiac MRI, performing advanced imaging procedures including cardiac function, viability, perfusion, and structural assessments.
- Collaborate directly with cardiologists and radiologists in real time to optimize imaging protocols and ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine MRI and cardiac MRI protocols to meet clinical and operational needs.
- Drive program development and growth of cardiac MRI services, including expanding capabilities and supporting physician alignment.
- Train, mentor, and develop MRI technologists, including onboarding new staff and advancing team competencies in specialized imaging.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards across all MRI operations.
- Monitor and improve key performance metrics, including throughput, turnaround times, and patient satisfaction.
- Support recruitment, retention, and performance management of MRI staff.
- Act as a liaison between imaging, cardiology, and executive leadership to align strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrate proficiency across a broad range of MRI protocols, including highly specialized cardiac imaging techniques requiring real-time clinical judgment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in MRI technology and imaging techniques.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Expertise in ECG gating, cardiac synchronization, and high temporal resolution imaging techniques.
- Ability to independently manage complex MRI protocols and make real-time imaging adjustments.
- Strong understanding of contrast administration and cardiac-specific imaging techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Ability to function in high-acuity, physician-driven environments.
- Experience with protocol development and collaboration with physicians on advanced imaging techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
- ARRT (MR) certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5+ years of MRI experience.
- Demonstrated experience in cardiac MRI imaging.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience training and developing staff in advanced imaging techniques.
