Job description

Our Hydroexcavation & Heavy Haul division provides a variety of services to construction companies and utilities around the region. Notably, we provide hydro excavation services to construction companies, deliverable consumables and haul heavy equipment. We also supply many critical resources to the electric utility operators in the area.
We have an opening for a CDL B Driver - Hazmat based out of our Scottsville location.
Location: Rochester, NY
Primary Function and Scope:
The Hazmat Driver will work to manage the delivery of parts, equipment and material to internal and external customers. This will include driving a vehicle to various locations around the area and unloading material. We deliver materials used in the transmission and distribution of electricity.
Specific duties of this role will include, but not be limited to:
  • Locate and load parts by hand/dolly onto truck for delivery
  • As required, pick up parts and supplies from stores and vendors for delivery
  • Drive to job sites to deliver materials needed by our construction crews and our customers; while travel will generally be in and around Rochester, some extended day travel may be required
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal employees and customers regarding needs, sometimes adjusting priorities accordingly
  • Maintain detailed records of material delivered
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels by notifying supervisor of low stock items and participating in cycle counts
  • Operate our equipment with constant attention to safety, including driving company vehicles

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus at least 5 years of work experience; construction industry experience preferred
  • CDL B driver's license with Hazardous Material Endorsement
  • Impeccable driving record
  • OSHA10 safety certification is required (If applicant does not hold this certification, P&CG will pay for computer-based training with applicant completing on-line course within 5 days of hiring Certification is the property of the applicant)
  • Safety certifications preferred (e.g., First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space)
  • Strong customer service orientation; able to communicate with site crews and address challenges
  • Experience in a labor-intensive position and working outside in all types of weather conditions
  • Capable of working variable shifts with extended hours
  • Ability to work independently in a team and safety focused environment
  • Willingness to learn to operate our hydro excavation truck AND obtain a tank endorsement in the future

Compensation:
  • $25.00-$33.00 per hour based on experience
