Position: Project Accountant
Location: Lorton, VA (just outside of Washington, DC)
In Office: Monday-Friday/40.0 hours
In the dynamic world of design/build construction at Design and Production Inc., you’ll play a critical role in managing project finances to support the execution of some of the most iconic and highly visited museums in the United States. In this collaborative role, you will partner with project managers and teams to guide, advise, and manage the financial and administrative aspects of projects from inception to completion to support the successful delivery of highly complex projects.
ABOUT DESIGN AND PRODUCTION INCORPORATED (D amp;P)
D amp;P is one of the leading providers of exhibit project management, production and technology services to museums, educations and institutions. With over 75 years of experience in the local community, D amp;P is now part of the global museum business of Chargeurs, a public company based in Paris, France.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
  • Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets to align with financial goals.
  • Cost Tracking: Record and track all project-related expenses, including subcontractors, materials, and overhead.
  • Invoice Processing: Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices in line with contracts and budgets.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports and forecasts; analyze and communicate variances.
  • Contract amp; Change Order Administration: Track and document changes to contracts and purchase orders.
  • Cash Flow Oversight: Monitor and manage project cash flow to ensure financial liquidity.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance amp; Audit Support: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and support audit processes.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve financial issues.
  • Document Management: Maintain organized financial records for compliance and reference.
  • HUB Reporting: Track and report all HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) pricing information.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5 + years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or long term, complex project-based environments.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
Core Skills
  • Deep understanding of construction accounting (job costing, contract billing, change orders).
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, and reconciliation for long term projects of several years.
