Summary
The Senior Performance Improvement Specialist for the Johns Hopkins Health System is responsible for managing and facilitating the identification, implementation, and ongoing measurement of multiple, complex projects under limited guidance, thereby improving the effectiveness and quality of healthcare. The senior specialist consistently applies improvement methodology coupled with change management strategies to projects to design new systems and processes well, while re-engineering existing processes and systems to improve operational safety and quality of care. The senior specialist will assist in creating a culture of continuous improvement by demonstrating a passion for change while managing multiple high-level projects.
Knowledge and Skills
Advanced knowledge of project management, standard process improvement methodologies, planning, and administrative theory.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge in the use of a diverse set of methods for developing processes and changes that lead to improvement, data analysis, and simulation modeling.
Apply specialized skill set for accelerated change and waste reduction to accomplish entity goals around opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of process improvement tools and their applicability in a healthcare setting.
Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills consistently to effectively lead teams and drive projects to completion.
Demonstrate ownership of assigned, complex projects and the expertise to guide others as a subject matter expert. Analytical ability to identify and illustrate relationships among complex activities.
Advanced in spreadsheet, database, presentation, and word processing software.
Ability to generate change through influence rather than authority, using a proven framework to direct and accelerate organizational transformation. Provide workgroups, committees, and task forces with exceptional facilitation, educational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Use effective chartering techniques to appropriately and efficiently scope projects and link them to the organization's overall strategic plan and key work processes.
Work independently and intentionally to complete projects according to agreed-upon project timelines, achieving milestones and deliverables as per the plan.
Use proven methods to work more effectively with colleagues, organize and lead improvement teams, and handle difficult conversations, coupled with strong consultative skills.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Administration, or another relevant field is required. A Master's degree in Business, Health Administration, or other relevant field is preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience working in an operational environment in healthcare that must include two (2) years of experience in supporting organizational change, Project Management, Change Management, and Performance/Process Improvement. Consultant experience desired.
Required Licensure, Certification
Completion/Certification of Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, Lean, or similar training as designated by the department within 1 year of hire and/or promotion into the position.
Salary Range: $37.04 /hour - $61.16 /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
