Job description

Student Employment Opportunity: Personal Trainer


**This position is for current Palmer College of Chiropractic students only.

Function:

To serve as a personal trainer in the recreation program.

Organizational Relationship:

The personal trainer will report directly to the Athletic and Recreation Coordinator

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To offer free health assessments to the Palmer Community.
  • To provide exercise programming for clients with in the Palmer Community.
  • Ability to perform a variety of fitness test.
  • Train Clients one-on-one.
  • Write exercise prescriptions for a variety of clients.
  • Keep a detailed account of all client activity.
  • Keep a file on all clients in the fitness center.
  • Hold the responsibility of the equipment in the Fitness Center purchased exclusively for the trainer program.
  • Hold responsibility of the safety and conduct of all current clients.

Education, Training and Experience

  • A Personal Trainer must hold certification from one of the following organizations:
  1. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  2. American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  3. Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

or an education equivalent (such as a college degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or sports rehabilitation).

  • A Personal Trainer must have experience working with clients in an exercise or sports rehabilitation setting.
  • A Personal Trainer must have the ability to perform a variety of fitness tests.
  • A Personal Trainer must have the ability to train clients one on one. Must hold current CPR and First Aid certification.
