Job description

United Presbyterian Home is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Wellness Coach to help residents live active, connected, and fulfilling lives. This position takes a whole person wellness approach, recognizing that wellness includes much more than physical fitness. It encompasses physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and purposeful well-being.

As a Wellness Coach, you will build relationships with residents, provide individualized and group wellness guidance, lead fitness opportunities, and create programs and experiences that encourage healthy living and meaningful engagement. You'll also have the opportunity to help plan community events and share the vibrant life of our residents through social media and other communications.

What You'll Do

  • Provide individual and group wellness coaching focused on exercise, healthy lifestyle habits, nutrition, stress management, and quality of life.
  • Lead safe, effective, and inclusive water and land-based fitness classes for residents of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels.
  • Assist with functional fitness testing, monitor progress, and adapt programs to meet individual needs and goals.
  • Encourage residents to participate in wellness opportunities and conduct outreach to residents who may benefit from greater engagement.
  • Develop and support programs that promote the many dimensions of whole person wellness-including physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and purposeful well-being.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and help connect them with programs, activities, and opportunities that support their interests and goals.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting resident events and special programs that encourage connection, engagement, and enjoyment.
  • Create or contribute to social media and other communications that highlight wellness opportunities, events, resident engagement, and the positive aspects of life at United Presbyterian Home.
  • Collaborate with staff, resident health teams, and other departments to support a strong culture of wellness throughout the community.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-organized fitness center.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Positive and approachable with a genuine enjoyment of working with older adults.
  • Outgoing and engaging, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents.
  • Creative and enthusiastic about developing programs, activities, and events that bring people together.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Comfortable communicating with residents, families, health professionals, staff, and community partners.
  • Passionate about wellness and able to work with people across a wide range of abilities and fitness levels.
  • Comfortable with technology and social media, including Microsoft Office and internet-based tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Wellness, Health Promotion, Recreation, or a related field.
  • Nationally recognized fitness or wellness certification, or willingness to work toward certification.
  • Experience as a personal trainer, wellness coach, fitness instructor, recreation professional, or group exercise leader.
  • Experience working with older adults, fitness instruction, personal training, wellness programming, event coordination, or social media is a plus.
  • CPR certification.

If you're someone who believes wellness is about more than exercise-it's about connection, purpose, enjoyment, and living life to the fullest-we'd love to hear from you!
