ASER International Fencing Academy – Sterling, VA


Job location: Sterling, VA


Job Overview

ASER International Fencing Academy is seeking a motivated, reliable, and energetic individual with a background in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Science, Athletic Training, or a related field to join our coaching team.

No fencing experience is required. We are specifically looking for someone with the right personality, work ethic, and interest in coaching who is excited to learn a specialized sport. We will provide hands-on training in fencing from the ground up, along with ongoing mentorship and a clear pathway to develop into a professional fencing coach.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, current student, personal trainer, sports coach, or exercise science professional who enjoys working with children and athletes and is looking to build a valuable long-term coaching skill.


What You’ll Do

  • Learn fencing technique, coaching methodology, and athlete development through structured, hands-on training.
  • Assist with beginner and youth fencing classes.
  • Teach fundamental movement, coordination, footwork, balance, and athletic skills.
  • Work directly with children and developing athletes.
  • Assist experienced coaches during practices and training sessions.
  • Gradually take responsibility for beginner classes and individual instruction as your skills develop.
  • Help create a positive, disciplined, encouraging, and professional training environment.
  • Participate in ongoing coach education and development within the academy.

Training & Career Development

This is not simply an assistant position. Our goal is to identify talented people and develop them into skilled fencing coaches.

Selected candidates will receive direct training and mentorship from experienced international-level fencing coaches. As your technical knowledge and coaching ability develop, there will be opportunities for increased coaching responsibilities, private instruction, competitive coaching, and higher compensation.

For the right person, this position can develop into a long-term professional coaching career.


Schedule

Approximately 20–25 hours per week initially, primarily afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.

Part-time and potential full-time growth opportunities are available.


Compensation

$15–$30 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, coaching ability, and level of responsibility.

Compensation and responsibilities can increase as the candidate progresses through our training program.
