Job description

Exercise Physiologist

Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community offering top-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment. We are looking for a passionate and energetic Exercise Physiologist to join our gym, the Duke Center For Living. The Exercise Physiologist will assess the physical conditions of all members to ensure safe implementation of exercises and lifestyle programs. They will also provide personal training and educational programs, lead group exercise classes, and performs other services for members and facility as needed.

Along with a base pay, you will have a higher rate for personal training sessions. This will be based off prior Personal Training experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess pre-and-post exercise vital signs, rate of perceived exertion, and symptoms as needed.
  • Acting as first responder in the event of an emergency.
  • Provide Personal Training and specialty programming, individual and group, in accordance with DCFL's policies and facility goals
  • Counsel and instruct participants in basic behavior modification and risk factor reduction through fitness assessments, exercise orientations, and wellness seminars.
  • Teaching group exercise including but not limited to aerobics, indoor cycling, water aerobics, strength, and flexibility.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Monitor the exercise floor, pool area and track to assist members and answer health/fitness related questions.
  • Completing administrative tasks to include opening/closing checklist responsibilities, scheduling Personal Training appointments, front desk coverage, etc.
  • Perform other administrative duties depending on facility goals and needs.

All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or kinesiology-related degree
  • Certifications in: Basic Life Support and AED, ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, or other preferred Personal Training certification within 90 days of hire
  • 6-12 months experience in a wellness program and experience with a variety of patient populations.
  • Skills in risk factor modification, lifestyle management and change, exercise prescription for special populations; experience leading group fitness classes; exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to provide adequate CPR.
