About the Team:
The role of Well's Member Services team is to create frictionless experiences for our members and help them achieve their best health. Our members are at the core of everything we do. We are seeking to forge sustained relationships with our members by serving them with empathy, and we are looking for team members who are excited to join our efforts to pursue this goal! Our team is composed of a variety of interdisciplinary roles that work closely together to advance our members' health, including our Well Guides, nurses, Benefit Specialists, and Certified Coaches. The team helps members with questions related to medical benefits, coaches our members to set and obtain their health goals, and helps them navigate the healthcare system.
About the Role:
We're looking for a collaborative and motivated ACSM-Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or Physical Therapist with a passion for delivering optimal outcomes for members undergoing significant weight management journeys. This individual will serve a critical role in launching our new GLP-1 support program. As the primary subject matter expert on exercise and muscle preservation, this individual will provide 1:1 coaching via video or phone, resistance training education, and movement prescriptions designed to improve metabolic health for members on GLP-1 medications.
Beyond direct coaching and chat support, this individual will also support developing evidence-based resources, including tip sheets. The ideal candidate has deep clinical experience and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create individualized exercise prescriptions for members with varying mobility levels, cardiovascular risk and exercise histories. Focus on converting sedentary members to active ones and prioritizing muscle mass preservation for those on GLP-1s.
  • Provide virtual exercise counseling services to members via phone or video, conducting initial functional assessments, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
  • Educate members on the physiological impact of rapid weight loss on muscle tissue and resting metabolic rate; design and guide training protocols specifically to preserve lean muscle mass during periods of rapid weight loss associated with GLP-1 medications.
  • Collaborate closely with Registered Dietitians and Well Guides to ensure exercise plans align with nutritional intake (specifically protein timing) and overall care plans.
  • Appropriately screen for contraindications to exercise, modify programming for comorbidities (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, osteoarthritis), and refer members to primary care or physical therapy when medical clearance or rehabilitation is needed.
  • Provide empathetic, non-judgmental guidance using motivational interviewing techniques to help members overcome barriers to physical activity (e.g., fatigue, pain, lack of time).
  • Keep up to date with the latest exercise research and trends to ensure that advice and recommendations to clients are evidence-based.
  • Based on capacity, support the Member Services team by building or reviewing educational exercise resources and workflows for non-clinical staff, and serving as an exercise subject matter expert for reviewing member-facing content
  • Consistently meet program metrics regarding member engagement and retention while meeting clinical quality standards.
  • Work as an integral part of our program development, execution, and continuous improvement, particularly in refining the GLP-1 support protocols.

Requirements
  • Must currently be an Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) through the American College of Sports Medicine or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or Exercise Science preferred
  • 5+ years of clinical experience working with individuals managing obesity or metabolic syndrome, including individuals on GLP-1 medications
  • Comfortable delivering coaching and demonstrations via video and chat platforms
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt communication techniques to a diverse patient population.
  • Passion for helping individuals achieve their health goals through exercise and lifestyle changes
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
