Field Welder | 70 Mile Radius from Quakertown, PA
GeneralSummary of Position
The Field Welder position is expected toproduce welds that support the installation of exterior and interior wallpanels for commercial buildings.
Essential(Core Competencies) Duties
  • Perform welds using stick and migprocesses in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Current AWS D1. 1 SMAW 3G and AWSD1. 1 SMAW 4G certifications, AWS D1. 5 SMAW 3G and 4G preferred.
  • Maneuver units into position for installation and anchor theunits.
  • Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers,punches, or drills.
  • Assist foreman with properlayout for work to be put in place.
  • Accurately measure and readheight, width, length, and other proportions with a tape measure
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers toensure everything is level and secure.
  • Work at heights with several elevated platforms.
  • Keep work area clean and productive.
  • Alwaysexercise the proper use of PPE.
  • Set up and safely use company equipment.
  • Maintainwelding certification through maintenance logs and supervisor observation.

Qualifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Participation in asecondary or post-secondary trade curriculum.
  • 1+ yearexperience with stick welding.
  • Field carpentryexperience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE.

Work Environment
FieldWelders work indoors and outdoors on many types of construction projects,with varying degrees of exposure to the elements. This may include extreme heat(>85 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), extreme cold (<32degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), excessive humidity and noise.Some hazards may be present such as proximity to moving mechanical parts,electrical current, toxic/caustic chemicals, and slippery/uneven walkingsurfaces.
Physical Requirements
  • Due to thephysical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of theirhands and arms.
  • Employeemust be able to see objects close and far away.
  • At times,multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must havethe ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with thetask they are completing. Employees withany sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to performthis position.
  • Due to thesafety sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit forduty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering orperformance altering substance. At notime, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performancealtering substance while performing any Company task.
