Job description

Renwick Hospitality Group is currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef for Altair DC, opening this fall. See our sister restaurant at altairnyc.com. You must be a career minded individual that is seeking to evolve into their next step. This role is ideal for Sous Chefs that want to learn more about the business side, while continuing to hone their culinary skills and to eventually develop the skillset to become an Executive Chef. At Renwick Hospitality Group, we value consistency and integrity. We take pride in seeing things through to the end and we do not settle for anything substandard. Our mission is to provide excellent hospitality and ultimately strive to be better than who we were the day before.

The Executive Sous Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef and handle daily operations for all business outlets, Altair (restaurant), Bar Room at Altair (cocktail bar), ART DC (rooftop lounge), The Cafe at Altair (lobby general store) in addition to Banquets and Events. Some of these include but not limited to:

  1. Managing employee accountability. I.E making sure their standards of quality are in place.
  2. Training new employees with the same standards and accountability.
  3. Managing inventory for day to day operations. I.E Making sure there is enough Mis en Place.
  4. Ordering and inventory.
  5. Cost control.
  6. Expediting.


Physical Requirements:

- 50hr work week. Full availability required.

- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.

- Must be able to lift 50lbs

- Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time, with frequent bending, twisting, squatting and reaching overhead.
