What is an executive startup?

An Executive Startup job typically involves leading or managing a startup company, focusing on strategy, growth, and operations. Executives in startups often wear multiple hats, overseeing business development, fundraising, product management, and team building. Unlike corporate executives, startup leaders must navigate uncertainty and drive rapid scaling with limited resources. This role requires strong leadership, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the market. Successful startup executives foster innovation and create sustainable business models.

What are some of the unique challenges executives face when leading early-stage startups?

Executive roles in startups often require wearing multiple hats, balancing strategic vision with hands-on operational duties in a resource-constrained environment. You'll encounter challenges like building a scalable team, securing funding, and pivoting business models quickly in response to market feedback. Startups can have unpredictable hours and workloads, so adaptability and quick decision-making are essential. Collaboration across product, marketing, and finance is constant, and you have a direct impact on the company’s direction and success. Successfully navigating these challenges can offer substantial professional growth and the opportunity to build a transformative business from the ground up.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the executive startup position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive at a startup, you need a strong track record in business leadership, strategic planning, and financial management, often backed by relevant business degrees or entrepreneurial experience. Familiarity with tools such as CRM systems, project management software, and financial modeling platforms is highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and resilience under pressure are vital soft skills for navigating the fast-paced startup environment. These competencies are crucial for driving growth, securing investment, and leading diverse teams through rapid change and uncertainty.

Supporting multiple international leaders, coordinating across regions, and creating a strong team culture, this person will play a key role in helping the company build and scale its U.S. operations.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves solving problems, and can take a complex mix of priorities and turn them into an organized plan. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants ownership, visibility, and the ability to make a meaningful impact within a growing healthcare technology organization.
Responsibilities
  • Provide executive support to senior leadership, with a primary focus on calendar management, meeting coordination, and helping optimize executive priorities.
  • Partner with multiple executives and leadership team members to coordinate schedules, align priorities, and support day-to-day operational needs.
  • Help manage the challenges of a global organization by coordinating across U.S. and international teams and time zones.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for executive leadership and team members.
  • Support Atlanta office operations, including supplies, office access, visitors, vendor coordination, onboarding logistics, compliance requirements, and general workplace needs.
  • Plan and execute company events, team lunches, offsites, conferences, client dinners, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Partner with global administrative teams to strengthen communication and collaboration across regions.
  • Create structure around competing priorities by proactively identifying needs, improving processes, and keeping initiatives moving forward.
  • Serve as a trusted resource and "go-to" person who helps connect people, information, and resources across the organization.

Requirements
  • Ability to work onsite in the Atlanta office 2-3 days per week.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Executive Assistant, Executive Coordinator, Team Assistant, Office Coordinator, Operations Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting multiple leaders, teams, or departments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Familiarity and expertise with Office365, Microsoft Teams, or other productivity suites.
  • Ability to operate independently, take initiative, and bring structure to ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Comfortable working with global teams and coordinating across different time zones.
  • Experience in a startup, healthcare, technology, fintech, or other high-growth environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Benefits
  • Opportunity to play a foundational role in scaling an international healthcare startup's U.S. operations.
  • High visibility and partnership with executive leadership.
  • Growth opportunities into broader operations, strategy, product, or leadership-focused roles.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where your ideas and contributions make an impact.
