Job description

Job Title: Director, Accounting
Reports to:
SVP, Finance
Location: US -
Boston, MA, Houston, TX

A quick snapshot...

As Director, Accounting at Conga, you will lead the global accounting function, overseeing the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial reporting, close processes, and compliance framework. You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations while continuing to build scalable processes that support a high-growth SaaS environment.

You will partner closely with Finance, FP&A, Legal, and business leaders to ensure alignment between operational activities and financial outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will both guide the team and actively contribute to key deliverables such as month-end close, audits, and technical accounting matters.

Why it's a big deal...

At Conga, Accounting is a critical pillar of our financial foundation. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of our financials-supporting executive decision-making, board reporting, and investor confidence.

The Director, Accounting plays a central role in managing the close process, preparing for and leading annual audits, and continuously improving accounting operations. This position also drives cross-functional alignment, ensuring that financial processes scale with the business while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards.

Are you the person we're looking for?

Related experience
You bring 8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles within a SaaS or technology-driven organization. You have strong expertise in US GAAP, financial reporting, and managing the month-end and quarter-end close processes. Experience leading teams and developing talent is essential.

Leadership & influence
You are a trusted partner who can collaborate across Finance, FP&A, Legal, and operational teams. You bring a proactive approach to identifying issues, solving problems, and influencing decisions through data and financial insight. Your ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution sets you apart.

Operational excellence
You have a strong track record of building and improving accounting processes, ensuring accuracy while increasing efficiency. You understand how to scale systems and workflows in a growing organization and can implement best practices that stand up to audit and compliance scrutiny.

Initiative
You take ownership of outcomes and don't wait for direction. Whether it's improving close timelines, enhancing reporting, or addressing gaps in controls, you proactively identify opportunities and drive them through to completion.

Industry expertise
Experience in SaaS accounting is highly preferred, including familiarity with revenue recognition (ASC 606), subscription models, and billing integrations.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; CPA strongly preferred.

Here's what will give you an edge...

Tools and systems experience

  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite (or similar)
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and consolidation tools
  • Experience partnering with FP&A systems (Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.) is a plus

Audit & compliance leadership

  • Proven experience leading annual audits and working with external auditors
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance frameworks

Process improvement mindset

  • Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance scalability and efficiency
  • Experience shortening close cycles and improving reporting accuracy

Cross-functional partnership

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Billing, AR, Legal, FP&A, and business stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate accounting concepts to non-financial audiences

Quality oriented

  • You operate with a high level of precision and accountability. You build processes that minimize errors, and when issues arise, you address them transparently and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.

Resourceful & collaborative

  • You bring a solutions-oriented mindset and leverage relationships, tools, and insights across the organization to drive results. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
