Job description

Summary:

Reporting to the President and CEO, The Vice President and Chief Medical Officer ("Vice President & CMO" or "VP/CMO") plays a key role at the Executive Management Team as it is responsible for the clinical vision of the company. The CMO provides, strategic direction, leadership and oversight to the Pharmacy, the Quality Population Health Analytics and Business Intelligence, Provider Contracting Network areas ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported and in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Vice President is responsible for maintaining and adhering to internal controls, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and following Health New England's entity-level policies and procedures, including the reporting of unethical or fraudulent activity related to business operations and adhering to Health New England's Code of Conduct.

Minimum Requirements

  • Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout the teams to deepen client relationships and leverage broader business relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with Health New England's culture and the relevant business practices.

  • Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas per Health New England's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Associate's Handbook while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations concerning operational, compliance, and business conduct

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team

  • Provides medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of the highest quality and most efficient healthcare services.

  • Ensures that revenue enhancement, expense reduction and quality and service improvement efforts of the company are effective and consistent with HNE's clinical vision.

  • Leads efforts to understand the clinical needs of members and the design of effective programs to respond to those needs. Works towards move programs towards a more comprehensive population health program to understanding and managing the whole member to improve their health.

  • Leads the provider performance analysis in support of financial performance; builds strategy for network development upon understanding of provider performance and member needs.

Minimally Required Education:

Master's Degree

Minimally Required Experience:
Ten (10) years of relevant experience at an executive level in managed healthcare industry, or an equivalent of education and experience.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated leadership and change management experience.

  • Ability to think strategically about customer needs, product design, and product positioning.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills, problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills.

  • Excellent problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills, coupled with strong prioritization skills.

  • Proven ability to work with a team of professionals from various disciplines. Ability to develop, coach, and mentor staff on an ongoing basis.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Communicates and presents clearly and confidently.

  • Strategic thinking and vision-based market assessment, customer-based product design, and positioning.

  • Willing to be hands-on in a complex, ambiguous, and fast-paced environment

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
