What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Executive Quantitative Modeling roles and how are they typically addressed?

Professionals in Executive Quantitative Modeling roles often face the challenge of translating complex quantitative models into actionable insights for stakeholders who may not have technical backgrounds. Balancing model sophistication with interpretability is key, as is ensuring data quality and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as IT, risk, and business units, is essential to integrate models into business processes and to gain buy-in from decision-makers. Both roles require strong quantitative skills, but differ in scope and responsibilities.

What is executive quantitative modeling?

Executive quantitative modeling is a high-level role that involves developing, overseeing, and interpreting complex mathematical and statistical models to inform business strategies and decision-making. Professionals in this position typically lead teams that create models for risk assessment, financial forecasting, portfolio management, or pricing strategies. They work closely with senior executives to translate quantitative insights into actionable business plans. This role requires deep expertise in mathematical modeling, data analysis, and proficiency with advanced analytics tools and programming languages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Executive in Quantitative Modeling, and why are they important?

To excel as an Executive in Quantitative Modeling, you need advanced expertise in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and financial theory, typically supported by a graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, finance, or engineering. Proficiency with programming languages (like Python, R, or MATLAB), data analytics platforms, and experience with industry-standard risk management or financial modeling systems is highly valued. Leadership, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills set outstanding executives apart by enabling them to guide teams and translate complex models into actionable business insights. These capabilities are crucial for driving data-driven decision-making and maintaining a competitive edge in complex financial environments.

Job description

SUMMARY: We are seeking Data & Business Operations Project Manager to support Business Operations and data initiatives. This role requires an individual who is genuinely comfortable working directly within data environments, not just tracking deliverables or managing projects that involve data. The ideal candidate must be ready to roll up their sleeves, navigate cross-tokenized data systems, launch critical reporting, and maintain operational infrastructure to power executive decision-making.

HEIRARCHY: This role operates as a critical technical and operational contributor within the data and business operations ecosystem. While not positioned as a people manager, the role is expected to manage multiple complex data workstreams independently, track project milestones, maintain executive scorecards, and ensure seamless communication across cross-functional teams, technical data engineers, and commercial business leaders.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Partnership Operations & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate logistics and communications with external partners and internal cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Track project milestones, action items, risks, and dependencies across multiple initiatives.
  • Manage Leadership Team (LT) meeting agendas, synthesize complex discussions into clear action items, and aggressively drive follow-ups.
  • Ensure timely execution, operational discipline, and effective communication across data, product, and commercial workstreams.
  • Support executive planning cycles, track governance milestones, and contribute to Request for Proposal (RFP) support as needed.
  • Develop executive- and leadership-level presentations, dashboards, and materials for business reviews and decision-making.

Measurement Collection & Organization

  • Directly execute hands-on Business Intelligence (BI) development, including data modeling, querying, and building robust, automated visualizations to track complex workstreams.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain advanced dashboards and reports within Smartsheet, including the Data/Analytics Kanban board.
  • Directly support and navigate the cross-tokenized data environment, ensuring data integrity and alignment across complex, privacy-compliant data streams.
  • Spearhead the launch and continuous optimization of C5 reporting initiatives, transforming raw behavioral and operational data into clear, actionable narratives for digital business strategy.
  • Own and maintain the transactional content dashboard and workstream scorecards to provide real-time visibility into operational performance.
  • Support quantitative evaluations, data verification, and analyses for strategic partnership and platform growth opportunities.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Adaptability & Start-Up Mentality: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a start-up mindset; comfortable navigating ambiguity and maintaining high productivity even when definitive answers are not readily available.
  • Agile Execution: Demonstrates the ability to move forward decisively using the information at hand, making calculated assumptions to maintain project momentum rather than waiting for complete data sets.
  • Hands-on Data & BI Capabilities: Proven ability to work directly in complex, tokenized data structures and reporting environments, including a strong track record of independently querying, validating, and building your own BI views.
  • Advanced Smartsheet Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Smartsheet, including constructing complex formulas, cross-sheet references, automated workflows, and executive-ready dashboards.
  • Strong project management fundamentals and discipline across multiple data and business operations initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and capable of balancing high-level strategic thinking with deep technical execution.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to interface directly with Leadership and translate technical data concepts into commercial business impact.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience demonstrating a strong track record of independent strategic ownership and advanced data environment management.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working directly inside data environments and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or equivalent data architectures).
  • Advanced proficiency with Smartsheet dashboarding, workflow automation, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace tools (especially PowerPoint/Slides and Excel/Sheets).

ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES:

  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical, telehealth, or digital health industry experience.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated environments, including familiarity with compliance or Medical/Legal/Regulatory workflows.
  • Experience with CRM systems, data tokenization, and Kanban documentation tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing). Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Onsite - Indianapolis, 3 days a week.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday, normal business hours
