Join Esri's Professional Services team as a Technical Consultant focused on system engineering for ArcGIS Enterprise. In this role, you will work directly with customers to design, deploy, migrate, and support enterprise-scale GIS systems, with an emphasis on advanced deployment strategies such as high availability, disaster recovery, and Kubernetes-based architectures.
Working alongside a team specializing in ArcGIS Enterprise, you will help customers navigate complex enterprise IT environments by applying proven system engineering practices across Windows, Linux, cloud, and containerized deployments. The work spans performance analysis, troubleshooting, and architecture evolution, supporting customers as their systems grow in scale, complexity, and criticality.
This position is ideal for someone with experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise who is motivated to deepen their expertise across multiple deployment patterns and enterprise technologies. You'll engage with areas such as cloud infrastructure, data storage, authentication, and information security while contributing to challenging, innovative work at the intersection of ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise IT systems.
Esri's ArcGIS platform provides powerful tools for mapping and spatial analysis, enabling organizations to better understand where things happen and how data, systems, and decisions are connected. Esri's Professional Services Division plays a critical role in advancing the ArcGIS enterprise mapping and analytics platform by helping users succeed, expanding the influence of GIS, and continuously improving our technology.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in advanced Professional Services engagement types, including:

    • System challenge resolution and advanced troubleshooting
    • System Recovery Confidence Exercises and disaster recovery protection
    • System proofs of concept for advanced ArcGIS Enterprise deployments
    • Advanced ArcGIS Enterprise and database upgrades and deployments
    • Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes-based deployments
  • Apply working knowledge of technologies that complement ArcGIS Enterprise, including relational databases (RDBMS), NoSQL stores, object storage systems, SAN, NAS, and related enterprise data tier components.
  • Apply understanding of server-side servicing stack models, enterprise authentication methods (native credentials, domain-based authentication, SAML/OIDC, and related protocols), and foundational networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and TLS.
  • Lead customers and colleagues using well-defined, repeatable system engineering methods that create shared understanding and successful outcomes at the intersection of ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise IT systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Professional Services staff to resolve complex technical challenges and support the technical growth and skill development of less-experienced colleagues.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience implementing and supporting enterprise GIS systems
  • Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting technical issues in server-based systems
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently apply a systematic, best-practice-driven approach to system engineering
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to customers, executives, and technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field

Recommended Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or interest in additional ArcGIS technologies
  • Practical experience with one or more major cloud providers
  • Experience with scripting and/or programming languages such as shell scripting, Python, PowerShell, or similar
  • System administration experience with Windows, Linux, and/or Kubernetes platforms
