Job description
STACK INFRASTRUCTURE (STACK) provides digital infrastructure to scale the world's most innovative companies. We are an award-winning industry leader in building, owning, and operating highly efficient, cost-effective wholesale, colocation, and cloud data centers. Each of our national facilities meets or exceeds the highest industry standards in all operational categories of availability, security, connectivity, and physical resilience.
STACK offers the scale and geographic reach that rapidly growing hyperscale and enterprise companies need. The world runs on data. Data runs on STACK.
Director, Protective Intelligence & Executive Protection is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing STACK Americas' protective intelligence, executive protection, travel security, and strategic event security programs.
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Enterprise Security, this leader will build and mature enterprise capabilities that proactively identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate risks impacting STACK executives, employees, corporate events, and brand reputation. The Director will establish scalable programs that enable safe business operations while supporting the company's continued growth across North America.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in protective intelligence, executive protection, threat assessment, travel risk management, and crisis response. This leader will work closely with Executive Leadership, Environmental Health, Safety & Security (EHSS), Marketing, Public Relations, Public Policy, Human Resources, Legal, Corporate Communications, and external security partners to ensure enterprise security risks are effectively identified and managed.
This position requires exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, implement, and continuously mature STACK's enterprise protective intelligence, executive protection, travel security, and event security programs.
- Establish intelligence and threat-monitoring capabilities to identify, assess, and communicate emerging threats affecting STACK executives, employees, facilities, operations, events, travel, and brand reputation.
- Develop standardized threat assessment, risk-rating, escalation, and response protocols and provide timely intelligence assessments and briefings to executive leadership.
- Develop and manage executive protection standards and protective strategies, including executive risk assessments, travel security, protective advances, public appearances, high-profile engagements, and third-party protective services.
- Lead STACK's employee travel security program, including domestic and international travel risk assessments, threat monitoring, traveler communications, emergency assistance, and management of associated intelligence and notification platforms.
- Develop and manage STACK's event security program, including event intake, threat and venue assessments, security planning, protective measures, executive/VIP considerations, and post-event reviews.
- Partner with Marketing, Public Relations, Public Policy, Legal, Human Resources, Executive Leadership, and other stakeholders to assess and manage security considerations associated with events, emerging threats, activism, reputational concerns, and other sensitive matters.
- Support office security and workplace violence prevention through security assessments, threat management, response planning, and partnership with the Physical Security function.
- Manage third-party providers supporting protective intelligence, executive protection, event security, and travel security, ensuring appropriate service levels and performance.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with law enforcement, emergency management agencies, intelligence partners, venues, and other external security organizations.
- Establish program metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement processes and foster a proactive culture of security awareness across the organization.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible experience in protective intelligence, executive protection, enterprise security, corporate security, law enforcement, federal security, military special operations, or related critical infrastructure environments.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing enterprise security or protective intelligence programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Intelligence Studies, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise protective intelligence, executive protection, travel risk, or event security programs.
- Experience conducting executive threat assessments and risk-based decision making.
- Experience managing third-party security providers and protective services.
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and highly sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience collaborating across complex organizations with executive leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree (MBA, MPA, MS Security Management, or similar).
- ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP).
- Certified Threat Manager (CTM).
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) training.
- Experience supporting executive leadership within a Fortune 500 company, technology company, hyperscale cloud provider, data center operator, or other critical infrastructure organization.
- Experience utilizing intelligence platforms such as AlertMedia, Dataminr, Everbridge, Ontic, or similar threat monitoring solutions.
Compensation Range:
$140,980.00 - $163,240.00
THIS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:
- You are a strong communicator, you are persuasive and clear, blending analytics with experience in decision-making.

- You are naturally curious and driven toward continual improvement. While you celebrate your successes, you take time to review and analyze campaigns for future learning.
WHY STACK?
- We offer a competitive compensation package with strong benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K program, flexible spending accounts - even a cell phone subsidy.
- We foster a culture of appreciation, including peer-to-peer recognition and rewards programs.
- Fun is part of our DNA, with events, game nights, happy hours, and barbecues.
- We're growing - this is a great time to join and make an impact!
