Job description

  • Our client is a Chicago area based, global horticulture and agriculture product producer and distributor. Due to growth and expansion, the company is seeking to hire an innovation type to lead their discovery team.
  • The position entails leading the departments of Bioengineering, Cell Biology, and Bioinformatics (including 3 Department Leads and a staff of 11) ensuring the discovery team consistently and rapidly produces innovative, market-ready traits for their global plant breeders.
  • We want a "creative pragmatist"— a visionary who can create products that don’t yet exist and build the roadmap to create them. We seek the "creative vision" to inspire scientists to redefine biological possibilities, transforming "what if" into "we can." This person will balance their imagination with a laser focus on speed to market, commercial goals, and budgetary discipline. More than a scientist, this role will be an architect of innovation, translating complex synthetic biology into exciting consumer experiences!
