Registered Nurse

As The CORE Institute continues to grow, we are looking for a Registered Nurse for our Peoria Spine Center. Please see below for the functions and requirements for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides general nursing care to patients in the clinic. Administers medications per standing orders / medications written by physician. Practices within the Registered Nurse scope.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatment and examination of patients.
  • Observes, records and reports change in patient's medical condition, informs physician immediately, and follows through accordingly. Educates patient/family about procedures and medications.
  • Ensures patients displaying a change in medical condition are given immediate attention and priority.
  • Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Ensures pre-op phone calls are made to patients and that these patients fully meet protocol for procedure scheduled.
  • Responds to /refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Monitors patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the recovery of patient's post procedures.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise and professionalism when responding to emergency situations.
  • Maintains privacy, confidentiality and integrity of patient and organizational data.

Education:

  • ADN / BSN

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital environment, preferably pre-op/post-op and or surgery center.

Requirements:

  • Current state RN license.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan.
  • Knowledge of how to assess a patient with chronic medical conditions / understanding of pathophysiology regarding disease process.
  • Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that can be used to educate patients which encourages them to participate in their care.

Skills:

  • Insertion of intravenous catheters.
  • Skill in analyzing, interpreting a medical record and gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic and emotional patient data.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms / objective assessment.

Abilities:

  • Ability to make responsible decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice & clinic protocols.
  • Ability to offer education materials about procedures they had done.
  • Ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Ability to have open communication with the providers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

Environmental/Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Some travel within community.
  • May be required to work shifts ranging from 10-12 hours.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Some bending and stretching required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.

Organizational Requirements:
