Overview
As a Strategic Account Executive (Strategic AE) within the Retail & Consumer Goods (RCG) Organization, you will serve as a senior business leader responsible for developing and executing long-term growth strategies for some of Microsoft's most strategic retail and consumer goods customers. You will build trusted relationships with executive decision-makers, influence customer business direction, and position Microsoft as a transformational partner driving innovation, growth, and competitive advantage.
In this role, you will own the development and execution of comprehensive account strategies that align Microsoft's cloud, AI, security, data, and business application solutions with customer priorities and long-term business objectives. Leveraging a deep understanding of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and customer goals, you will identify opportunities to expand Microsoft's impact across the enterprise while fostering sustainable, multi-year growth.
You will collaborate closely with senior customer leaders, Microsoft executives, industry experts, partners, and cross-functional account teams to shape strategic initiatives and drive business outcomes. Through executive engagement and strategic planning, you will influence customer investment decisions, strengthen relationships across multiple business units, and help customers navigate industry disruption through technology-led transformation.
Success in this role requires exceptional executive presence, business acumen, strategic thinking, relationship management expertise, and the ability to orchestrate complex enterprise engagements that deliver measurable customer and business value.
To best support this strategic customer partnership, we are seeking candidates located in major Eastern or Central U.S. hub markets with the ability to travel and engage regularly with customer stakeholders.

  • Build trusted advisor relationships with executive, business, and technical leaders across the organization, creating alignment around shared priorities and transformation goals.
  • Lead complex, consultative sales motions across multiple stakeholder groups and buying centers, connecting Microsoft solutions to business challenges and opportunities.
  • Orchestrate a cross-functional team of sales, technical, partner, and industry resources to deliver customer value and accelerate growth.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities while deepening Microsoft's presence across the customer's global organization.
  • Bring industry expertise, customer insight, and strategic thinking to shape long-term account plans and position Microsoft as the partner of choice.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience making recommendations to and/or collaborating with mid-to-senior level executives.
  • 8+ years experience closing large, complex agreements/deals.

Other Requirements
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship.

Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Experience leading highly strategic, enterprise-scale customer relationships within large global consumer products, retail, or manufacturing organizations.
  • Proven ability to serve as the executive sales lead for complex accounts, driving customer strategy, executive engagement, cross-functional alignment, and business growth across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% to the Midwest and East Coast (U.S.) to support customer engagements, with flexibility to collaborate across North America and European business hours when needed.
  • Direct experience supporting complex Fortune 500 accounts, including established executive relationships and knowledge of large-scale IT or Global Business Services environments.
  • Experience leading complex, consultative sales engagements across large enterprise organizations, building relationships and influencing decisions across business, technical, operational, and executive stakeholder groups.
