Qualifications:
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) plus endorsement appropriate to assignment
  • 2 years of previous experience teaching and/or coursework in an assignment within the last 3 years
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of STEM concepts and instructional best practices
  • Knowledge and Experience with MS Office Suite, Google Docs, and PowerSchool Experience is a plus
  • Bilingual English & Spanish

Responsibilities:
  • Implement the district's curricula and instructional practices that align with the Board of Education standards
  • Engage in continuous professional development designed to improve instruction
  • Follow the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education and the Illinois School Code
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the district's mission and strategic plan and the school's site plan
  • Create an effective and attractive learning environment for students
  • Communicate regularly with parents and work cooperatively with parents for the best interests of the student
  • Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide both individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction
  • Maintain an effective learning atmosphere that promotes standards and behavior appropriate to the students' grade level
  • Regularly evaluate pupils' academic and social personal growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
  • Identify student needs and work with other employees to help solve student health, attitude, and learning problems
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aides while maintaining required inventory records
  • Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the assigned workday
  • Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program
  • Participate in curriculum development programs, staff committees, and sponsorship of student activities as required
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,s and facilities
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the School Principal
