Job description

Description:

The Supervisor Reports to the Machine Shop Superintendent. Plan and direct Machine Shop production and production support activities Utilize personnel, materials, and equipment for efficient production. Designing efficient operations that produce a product that meets or exceeds customer requirements


Duties Performed:

  • Develop, implement and maintain Machine Shop standard practices
  • Supervise operations and methods of production throughout the Machine Shop
  • Responsible for productivity and ongoing productivity improvements
  • Planning and scheduling of equipment, including timely scheduling and performance of maintenance and repair work.
  • Responsibility for calibration and maintenance of gauging instruments
  • Responsible for housekeeping throughout the Machine Shop
  • Responsible for maintaining safety requirements
  • Instructs and evaluates employees with emphasis on correct work methods, quality, safety, and company policy.

Requirements:

Minimum Education and experience:

High School Diploma or technical or trade school training or four years experience in Machine Shop practices. Knowledge of Machine Shop equipment, tooling, and shop math. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments. Supervisory experience is a plus


Required Training:

Concepts and practices of centrifugal castings operations. Thorough training in the Standard Operating Procedures within the department Knowledge of the Company’s Rules and Regulations and Union/Company labor agreement. Use of our computer applications


Required Skills:

Broad knowledge of manufacturing practices in the Machine Shop. Knowledge of blueprint reading and shop math skills. Ability to plan, direct, instruct and discipline hourly workforce.

Ability to plan, direct, and maintain quality and productivity in a production environment
