THE POSITION
This Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1 position performs is highly advanced IT support functions under our Enterprise Technology Services Office for the Riverfront Office Center (ROC) Print Center. It supports the department's varied and high-volume printing needs in an IBM Mainframe Environment to keep critical processes running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position manages printer support activities, administers mainframe software products, and provides specialist guidance to keep the department's printing operations running effectively. It also facilitates the application development process and end user computing. As an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1, you will perform the following duties:
  • Printer Operations: Manage, coordinate requirements, and remotely control the operation of inkjet, line matrix, and high-volume laser printers
  • Customer Assistance: Help Print Center staff with restart and recovery processes for both the printers and the Printer Management software
  • System Improvement: Monitor operating system performance, provide recommendations to resolve issues, and identify where improvements can be made
  • Configuration Work: Define and maintain terminal and printer configurations for business partners
  • Collaborative Consultation: Work with administrators and application developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues in system operating environments
  • Project Coordination: Organize tasks, estimate time requirements, and determine resource needs to support development teams

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Information Technology Generalist 2, Applications Developer 2, Database Analyst, Information Security Specialist 1, or Network Specialist 2; or
  • Five years of information technology experience that includes two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • Three years of information technology experience that includes two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • One year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position also requires one or more years of full-time professional information technology experience working in an IBM Mainframe Environment.
