Job description

WPBF, Hearst Television's ABC affiliate in Palm Beach Gardens, is looking for a Nightside Executive Producer to oversee our market-leading evening newscasts. This competitive market demands someone with big-picture vision, strong editorial judgment, and a sharp sense of urgency. We are seeking a leader with exceptional breaking news instincts and strong showcasing skills who can create compelling, multi-platform content that excels on-air and across digital and social platforms.

The Nightside Executive Producer will work closely with producers, reporters, anchors, and directors to execute winning nightly coverage strategies. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure situations, owns the room during breaking news, and can inspire a team to produce impactful, audience-focused journalism. This role will also play a key leadership role in major story initiatives and special coverage projects, including election coverage and other large-scale newsroom events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the editorial execution and production of the 5:30 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p. m. newscasts
  • Lead the team in choosing dynamic daily content tailored to evening viewers
  • Demonstrate strong editorial decision-making, breaking news leadership, and showcasing skills
  • Respond aggressively to breaking news, ensuring WPBF leads the competition on-air, online, and across social platforms
  • Drive a digital-first strategy, ensuring strong content distribution on the website, app, streaming platforms, and social media
  • Support producers and reporters in crafting compelling copy and using graphics, video, and pre-production elements to create dynamic presentations
  • Collaborate with News Director and News Management Team to ensure strategies are consistent across day parts
  • Play a leadership role in major newsroom initiatives and big story projects, including election coverage and special event programming
  • Manage, coach, and motivate producers, reporters, and video journalists
  • Perform administrative responsibilities including scheduling, performance reviews, training, and providing important feedback
