Role Overview:
Theย Project Executive โ€“ Healthcareย will lead XLโ€™sย Healthcare market segment, managing delivery of multiple construction projects, guiding business development, and nurturing key client and stakeholder relationships. This leader will ensure bestโ€‘inโ€‘class project execution and financial performance while championing a highโ€‘performance, safetyโ€‘focused team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Market Leadership โ€“ Healthcare Focusย 
  • Serve as XLโ€™s lead strategist for theย Healthcare market segment, driving new pursuits and strengthening key industry relationships.
  • Delegate active participation in healthcare trade associations and forums to raise XLโ€™s profile.
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction, Marketing, and Executive teams to shape pursuit and pricing strategies.
  • Maintain upโ€‘toโ€‘date knowledge of healthcare regulations, delivery methods, and cost drivers.
Business Development & Preconstructionย 
  • Identify and win new healthcare project opportunities using XLโ€™s Middle and End Game pursuit methodologies.
  • Guide the bid process and lead preconstruction efforts to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts with owners and subcontractors to optimize risk and margin.
Project Oversight & Financial Managementย 
  • Provide senior leadership across project lifecyclesโ€”startโ€‘up through turnoverโ€”ensuring performance, safety, and quality.
  • Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and profitability measures across portfolio.
  • Conduct regular project health reviews to monitor performance, budget, schedule, and team dynamics.
Team Leadership & Developmentย 
  • Build and mentor highโ€‘performing teams; lead recruitment, development, and retention strategies.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to foster excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Implement best practicesโ€”such as Lean, VDC, Sustainability, ECS, and XL Shopโ€”to drive efficiency and innovation.
Client & Stakeholder Engagementย 
  • Own enduring client relationships; act as senior escalation and liaison for owners, designers, and partners.
  • Drive outstanding client satisfaction through transparent communication, quick issue resolution, and consistent delivery.
  • Embed and elevate XLโ€™s safety-first culture on every project and across all teams.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • 15+ years of construction leadership, with aย strong focus on healthcareย projectsโ€”Sacramento or Northern California experience a plus.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large/complex and multiple simultaneous projects profitably.
  • Skilled in business development, pursuit leadership, client management, and market positioning.
  • Deep understanding of preconstruction strategy, contract types, risk mitigation, and cost control.
  • Proven track record building and developing successful project teams.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10, LEED AP, and/or DBIA preferred.
  • Natural ambassador of organizational culture, ethics, and safety excellence.
Compensation Range (CA):ย $243,000 โ€“ $300,000/year:ย In accordance with California law, this posting includes a specified salary range. The final offer will depend on your qualifications as well as your relevant skills, experience, and licensure. XL may adjust pay based on internal equity, budget, candidate experience, and market conditions.
