Job description

Principal BizOps
Location: Remote
Why This Role Matters
As Principal BizOps & AI Transformation at Greenbox, you help define how the company operates, scales, and makes decisions. You turn implicit business logic into clear, structured workflows powering underwriting, renewals, funding, and cross-functional operations. You support the C-suite and senior leaders while laying the foundation for scalable automation and AI-enabled operations. This is not a role focused on maintaining or refining existing processes. You will be expected to operate in ambiguity and build systems, workflows, and decision frameworks from the ground up in an environment with limited structure.
What Success Looks Like
  • Take ownership of undefined, ambiguous problems - defining, solutioning, and building scalable solutions from initial diagnosis through implementation.
  • Bring clarity to ambiguous processes and decision paths.
  • Capture business logic in a way that's trusted, reusable, and easy to maintain.
  • Reduce operational friction by redesigning workflows and identifying scalable fixes.
  • Partner with product and technology teams to ensure systems, including GPTs and agents, behave in line with business intent.
  • Become a go-to resource for how processes work and where they should evolve.

How You'll Be Measured
  • Quality, completeness, and accessibility of process maps and documentation.
  • Reduction in bottlenecks and operational pain points.
  • Timeliness and reliability of deliverables.
  • Alignment between documented business rules and actual system behavior.
  • Adoption and sustained use of improved workflows.

What You'll Do
  • Interview stakeholders across teams to uncover the real rules behind underwriting, renewals, approvals, and routing.
  • Capture logic in structured formats like YAML/JSON rules, flow diagrams, decision trees, and SOPs.
  • Investigate issues such as drop-off rates, misrouted leads, approval friction, and documentation gaps, then design durable solutions.
  • Partner with product and engineering to translate business intent into workflows, triggers, and logic.
  • Support testing and validation of GPT/agent flows and automated processes.
  • Maintain clarity and traceability across systems including fields, statuses, and exception paths.

You're a Strong Fit If
  • You enjoy breaking down messy, ambiguous problems.
  • You think in systems and frameworks.
  • You're excited about AI and automation as operational tools.
  • You enjoy stakeholder conversations and sharp questioning.
  • You can bring order to chaos and create structure where none exists.
  • You're excited to deepen your technical fluency over time.

What You've Done Before
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA from a top program strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business operations, operational strategy, systems design, or transformation-focused roles.
  • Experience operating as both a builder and strategist in startup, scale-up, or 0→1 environments.
  • Background in management consulting is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to investigate ambiguous business problems end-to-end, including interviewing stakeholders, analyzing data, diagnosing root causes, and presenting structured recommendations
  • Experience working directly with executives; able to challenge ideas respectfully and drive alignment across senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to own and drive solutions end-to-end - taking ambiguous problems, designing the approach, and implementing workflows or systems without relying on existing structure.
  • Experience translating business logic into system and operational behavior in partnership with Product/Engineering.
  • Comfort expressing logic using structured formats (YAML, JSON, Airtable, Notion).
  • Familiarity with CRMs and workflow/automation tools is a plus.
  • Behavioral and Leadership Competencies (Additions)
  • Investigative ownership: proactively uncovers issues and creates clarity in ambiguity.
  • Executive maturity: able to communicate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Structured problem-solving: consultant-style rigor and clarity.
  • Challenger mindset: able to strengthen ideas and assumptions through thoughtful questioning.
  • Experience in a startup, scale-up, or transformation environment where you personally built or rebuilt systems, processes, or workflows from scratch

Tools and Expertise You'll Bring
  • Familiarity with CRMs like HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Experience with structured formats like YAML, JSON, Airtable, or Notion.
  • Comfort using process mapping tools like Lucidchart, Miro, or Whimsical.
  • Exposure to AI/automation tooling such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, LangChain, or Zapier.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
