Job Summary

A Golf Course Greenskeeper performs maintenance work and is responsible for the overall appearance and upkeep of our Mountain Ridge and Betsie Valley golf courses, under the supervision of the Golf Course Management team. This is an entry level position working early mornings, starting at 6:00a.m. and working 40 hours most weeks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed workmanship following management instruction and training to achieve high level course conditions.
  • Use various mowers, blowers, bunker raking equipment, and landscaping hand tools to maintain the turf areas of the golf courses.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Maintain non-turf grass areas to desired conditions. Remove limbs, leaves, and debris. Blow and edge cart paths.
  • Maintain bunkers by: Mowing and edging grass surrounds, hand and machine raking bunkers, and ensuring proper sand levels in the edges and bottoms.
  • Assist with golf course projects to include but not limited to construction and seeding related to new greens, tees, fairways and rough areas.
  • Communicate issues of concern regarding the greens, turf, golf courses, and machinery to the supervisor or manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and have a full range of motion.
  • Must be willing and able to bend, stoop and twist repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Must be willing to work for extended periods outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/ cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Weekends, some evenings and holiday are a regular part of the schedule.
  • Must have unrestricted and insurable driving record in order to be able to drive turf vehicles and mowers.
  • Non-smoking candidates preferred.
