Seeking: Academic Coach - Tutor
Location: Houston, TX (Multiple Sites Throughout the Houston Area)
Pay: $25.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | Approximately 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Site-Dependent)
Employment Type: Part-Time

Help Students Build Confidence, Skills, and Academic Success
Openwork is seeking dedicated and compassionate Academic Coaches to support youth and young adults ages 14–21 who are currently in or have aged out of foster care. This rewarding opportunity allows you to make a direct impact by helping students strengthen academic performance, build confidence, and develop important life and study skills.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide one-on-one and small group academic coaching and tutoring
  • Support students with school assignments, study habits, organization, and time management.
  • Help youth strengthen executive functioning and academic success skills.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and student progress documentation.
  • Ensure required assessments and program documentation remain current.
  • Attend scheduled trainings, meetings, and program events.
  • Travel to assigned tutoring locations throughout the Houston area.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; some college coursework will be considered.
  • At least 1 year of tutoring experience in core academic subjects required.
  • Experience tutoring higher-level math, science, and language arts preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth ages 14 and older required.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance required.
  • Access to a personal computer and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and student needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping youth succeed.
