Job description

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting for Veterans and their families to join our team. This role involves coordinating fundraising events and communications for a Veterans service organization in Bridgeport, CT.

This position reports to the CEO/Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors. It is a salaried full-time position exempt from overtime pay. This position requires flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as events dictate, and longer hours may be required during events and event prep times.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and running annual fundraising events and coordinating with local businesses and volunteer groups that organize fundraisers on behalf of the agency
  • Establishes, cultivates and grows relationships with individual donors, businesses and foundations
  • Oversees procurement and maintenance of sponsor and donor information
  • Coordinates Homes for the Brave’s external communications, including an Annual Report, monthly newsletters, and press releases
  • Manages website content for the organization and work with website vendor
  • Supervises fundraising staff, interns, and volunteers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least three years of experience with event management and execution required
  • Experience with public speaking and working networking events
  • Strong organizational, writing, communications and partnership-building skills
  • Experience with office and fund-raising computer software required, in particular CRM software (Network for Good), Word Press, Adobe, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of the Connecticut business community and political leadership, especially in Fairfield County, is desirable

The organization currently operates programs that provide transitional and permanent supportive housing, vocational training and placement, clinical treatment (mental health and substance use), all serving primarily Veterans, and a drop-in Service Center for Veterans and their families who are in housing crisis or who need support.
