Job description

The Director of Accessible Educational Materials Services (AEMS) leads Louisiana's statewide program providing accessible instructional materials to students who are blind or visually impaired. The role manages the Louisiana Instructional Materials Center, oversees the American Printing House for the Blind Federal Quota Program, supervises professional staff, and ensures compliance with federal accessibility regulations. The director serves on the Superintendent's Executive Leadership Team and collaborates with local education agencies, teachers, families, and state/national organizations to improve equitable access to educational materials.

Key qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Education, Educational Leadership, Visual Impairment, or related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible educational leadership experience
  • Three years supervising professional staff
  • Experience administering statewide educational programs and managing budgets and federal programs
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired
  • Demonstrated ability to lead statewide programs, develop strategic initiatives, and manage complex budgets
