About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to join our growing distribution organization in North Miami. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and leading the month-end close process. The Controller will manage a team of five accounting professionals and partner closely with executive leadership to support the company's continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of five accounting professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review and analyze financial results, identifying trends and providing meaningful insights to leadership.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with operations and other cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and financial decision-making.
  • Coordinate external audits and assist with tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and other financial planning activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the accounting function and help scale processes as the business grows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in the distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience managing the full month-end close and general ledger.
  • Prior experience leading and developing an accounting team.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
