Cristo Rey's Corporate Work Study Program is a unique workforce development model that creates meaningful partnerships between students and local employers. Through this proven national model, student associates provide valuable support to leading Orange County companies, earning a portion of the cost of their education while gaining job experience, growing in self-confidence, and realizing the relevance of education.
Our corporate partners play a vital role in shaping the future of Orange County's youth by creating opportunities that foster skill development, confidence, and career readiness. Cristo Rey makes this as easy as possible. Student associates are employees of our work study program and contracted to companies in a fee-for-service arrangement. We take care of all the training, payroll, compliance, and transportation, and even have a unique agreement with the Department of Labor. Over 3,300 companies nationwide partner with 41 Cristo Rey schools across the country.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Cristo Rey Orange County High School seeks a mission-driven, dynamic Director of Business Development with strong roots in the Orange County business community. This individual will secure opportunities for students by expanding our network of Corporate Work Study partners, opening doors for students to gain transformative workplace experiences that align with our mission of preparing leaders for lives of faith, purpose, and service.
This role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing new corporate partnerships while supporting high-level strategy, pipeline management, and executive-level engagement. The Director will play a critical role in expanding revenue, strengthening employer partnerships, and ensuring Cristo Rey Orange County meets ambitious student placement and growth goals.
The ideal candidate is a strategic relationship builder who thrives on connecting organizations with meaningful opportunities for impact. They are energized by generating new business opportunities, cultivating executive-level relationships, and advancing partnerships from initial introduction through successful implementation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Partnership Development
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new Corporate Work Study Program partnerships.
  • Develop and execute targeted outreach strategies across key industries and employer sectors.
  • Build relationships with executives, business owners, and community leaders.
  • Leverage existing networks and community connections to generate qualified partnership opportunities.
  • Present the Corporate Work Study Program to prospective partners through meetings, presentations, tours, and events.
  • Support the onboarding and transition of new corporate partners.

Business Development & Sales Strategy
  • Advance prospective partners through the full relationship development cycle.
  • Develop customized proposals and presentations aligned with employer needs.
  • Contribute to sector-based outreach campaigns and growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership, advancement, board members, and the Jobs Committee to achieve placement goals.
  • Identify emerging opportunities to expand employer engagement and revenue generation.

Community Engagement & Visibility
  • Represent Cristo Rey Orange County at networking events, business forums, chamber meetings, and community gatherings.
  • Build awareness of the Cristo Rey model throughout the Orange County business community.
  • Create meaningful opportunities for business leaders to engage with the school's mission and students.

Pipeline Management & Operational Excellence
  • Maintain accurate prospect and partnership data within CRM systems.
  • Track outreach activity, partnership development, and placement outcomes.
  • Monitor pipeline health and forecasting metrics.
  • Support scalable systems and processes that drive sustainable growth and execution.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with, or openness to, the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church, along with a commitment to building a vibrant organizational culture aligned with Cristo Rey's mission and Catholic identity.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in business development or high-level sales with a proven record of success.
  • Strong business acumen, discretion, and familiarity with the corporate landscape across multiple industries in Southern California.
  • A foundational commitment and alignment to the mission of Cristo Rey and Catholic values.
  • Demonstrated success generating and closing new business or partnership revenue and experience supporting prospect-facing events or convenings as part of a broader sales or business development strategy.
  • Trusted relationships with Orange County business leaders, corporate executives, and/or community influencers that support workforce development and community impact initiatives.
  • Strong oral presentation and executive communication skills.
  • Highly organized with experience managing pipelines, CRM systems, and sales reporting.
  • Ability to communicate a compelling mission-driven value proposition and inspire engagement from prospective partners.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the initiative to develop new opportunities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and collaboration.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation range for the Director of Business Development Role is $90,000 to $115,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
