Job description

Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist

Location: Corporate Headquarters – Southfield, MI
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Reports To: Corporate Controller

About Epic Health

Epic Health is a growing, multi-entity healthcare organization expanding operations nationally. To support this growth, we are adding an Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist at our Southfield, MI headquarters.

This role is not a backfill but a strategic addition to strengthen our corporate finance infrastructure and support multi-entity scalability. The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounts payable and payroll, with a strong background in ADP multi-state payroll processing, ERP automation, and advanced Excel capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process and code vendor invoices across multiple entities in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wires) ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Maintain vendor records, W-9s, and assist with annual 1099 reporting.
  • Reconcile AP subledger to general ledger, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives within the ERP environment.

Payroll (PR)

  • Accurately process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now (or similar).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage/tax laws across multiple states.
  • Maintain payroll records, garnishments, benefits deductions, and PTO accruals.
  • Partner with HR and managers to ensure timely and accurate employee data updates.
  • Assist with payroll-related audits and reporting.

General & Cross-Functional

  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Operations leaders to streamline workflows.
  • Drive automation opportunities to reduce manual processes and increase accuracy.
  • Assist with financial statement close processes related to AP and PR accruals.
  • Provide reporting and analysis as requested by the Controller/Finance leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years progressive experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Strong experience with ADP (multi-state payroll processing required).
  • Prior experience working with ERP systems (automation/streamlining workflows preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, Power Query or macros).
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Healthcare or multi-entity experience strongly preferred.
