Job description

Propane Delivery Driver / Service Technician

Are you looking for a career, not just another job? Would you be interested in working outdoors, driving, and being a part of a local family-owned company? If you answered yes, consider a career at Excel Propane.

Have a CDL? Great! We will help you obtain the tanker and hazmat endorsements as needed while you work.

Don't have a CDL? That's ok. We are willing to invest in the right person. We will cover all costs to get a CDL while working at Excel Propane.

Location:

This position is for our Ionia office located at:

4755 S State Rd, Ionia, MI 48846

About Excel Propane:

For the last 50 years, Excel Propane has been providing propane, with amazing customer service, to residential and commercial customers throughout West- and Mid-Michigan. We are a 2nd generation family owned company with 5 offices and 2 refueling bulk plants in Michigan. Currently, we have around 45 team members at Excel. We pride ourselves on treating our employees and customers "like family". The best evidence of that is the employees and customers that have been with Excel for over 30 years.

Joining Excel means becoming a part of a Team that works hard and is self-motivated, while also having fun and enjoying our jobs. Customers are depending on us every day to keep their homes warm, their water hot, their stoves cooking and that means our team has to be dependable, reliable, and dedicated - which they are!

Job Description:

The current job opening is for a Propane Delivery Driver / Service Tech at our Ionia office.

Primary job responsibilities include:

- Customer Service: At Excel, regardless of your job title, this is your #1 responsibility. Our customers have a variety of options for propane - they choose us because of our service.

- Propane Delivery: Driving a propane delivery truck (bobtail) to refill customer's propane tanks.

- Truck Maintenance: Completing daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the trucks. Help maintain a well-running and good-looking fleet.

- Propane Service: Install propane service at customer locations. Drive and operate a crane truck to install the propane tank. Trench and install new gas line to connect the propane service to the customer's home. Complete safety checks and leak tests to ensure all work is completed safely.

- Everything else: We are a small business and that means we all "do it all". From cleaning the office, to mowing the lawn, to painting tanks.

- Applicant's Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and Criminal Background Check needs to be approved by the insurance carrier.

- Job requires the ability to lift 70+ lbs and complete physical tasks.

Job Benefits:

- Pay: starting $24.75 per hour, with $1 per hour raise to $25.75 per hour after obtaining a CDL. Additional pay is available depending on prior propane experience.
