Umpqua Community College is seeking a Student Services Generalist to join our student-focused team. This position serves as a welcoming first point of contact for prospective and current students while providing administrative and technical support across the student services experience.
You'll help students navigate admissions, registration, student records, transcripts, and college resources-while keeping information accurate, confidential, and moving smoothly behind the scenes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Provide friendly, professional assistance to students in person, by phone, and email.
  • Process admissions applications, registrations, student records, and related transactions.
  • Assign Student IDs and provide new students with important next-step information.
  • Track student interactions from inquiry through registration and communicate admission decisions.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate information in student information systems and electronic files.
  • Process transcripts from multiple portals to support articulation and academic advising.
  • Troubleshoot database, software, and portal issues and coordinate with IT when needed.
  • Protect confidential student information and maintain compliance with FERPA.
  • Support graduation, commencement, special events, committees, and department projects.
  • Develop and maintain process guides and training materials and help train staff and student workers.
  • Cross-train with colleagues to provide consistent student service and department coverage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft software products and Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of email, internet, and network fundamentals and operations.
  • Ability to learn new software programs. โ€ข Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow FERPA requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot simulation and skills problems (after proper training is received).
  • Ability to work with and assist people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Associate degree or equivalent education and work experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in customer service or student services.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in an office setting.
  • Must be competent in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook), keyboarding, data entry
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in higher education.
