To thrive as an Excel Center Instructor, you need a background in education, strong instructional skills, and typically a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a teaching license. Familiarity with educational technology, learning management systems, and student data tracking tools is important for effective instruction and monitoring progress. Teachers at an Excel Center adult high school typically balance instructional duties with providing individualized support to adult learners pursuing their high school diplomas. You’ll create lesson plans, adapt materials for diverse learning needs, and collaborate closely with coaches and support staff to address barriers like work schedules or childcare. A common challenge is helping students overcome educational gaps and stay motivated, often requiring creative problem-solving and strong relationship-building skills. The environment is highly collaborative, with frequent team meetings and opportunities for professional development.
