Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead and support design, bid, and execution of mechanical systems work within a facilities operations and maintenance environment. This role requires technical expertise, field coordination, and project ownership from concept through completion.
  • Design Work:
    • Develop and review mechanical system designs (HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related infrastructure)
    • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts using AutoCAD/Revit and relevant software
    • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sustainability goals
  • Bid Work:
    • Create scopes of work, technical specifications, and detailed bid packages
    • Evaluate contractor proposals and assist with bid selection and procurement strategy
    • Participate in pre-bid meetings and respond to RFIs as needed
  • Run Work (Execution & Oversight):
    • Provide technical oversight during construction, repair, or retrofit projects
    • Coordinate closely with contractors, field technicians, and stakeholders
    • Perform site inspections, submittal reviews, punch lists, and ensure project quality and compliance
    • Monitor schedules and budgets, resolving issues to maintain project delivery standards
  • Facilities Support:
    • Provide engineering support for ongoing operations, preventive maintenance planning, and system troubleshooting
    • Collaborate with facilities managers and maintenance teams to identify system upgrades or lifecycle replacements
    • Maintain as-built documentation and contribute to asset management systems

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, project execution, or facilities engineering
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Active TS/SCI clearance required to start. Candidates must be willing and able to obtain a Polygraph as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must have passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, and construction management
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and engineering software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane Trace)
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, IBC, and local building codes
  • Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills
