PURPOSE
Operates basic saw types such as pop-up, miter, web saws, etc. to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made.
  • Adjusts saw for required cuts.
  • Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls.
  • Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls.
  • Stacks cut lumber after processing.
  • Advises supervisor of dull saw blades.
  • Other duties as assigned

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Other Skills and Abilities - Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.
